📞 Saul's exit call
Nearly seven months after leading an investment into StrongRoom AI, Misha Saul has departed Sydney venture firm EVP.
In the months after the StrongRoom AI fiasco erupted, with EVP calling the police on the startup weeks after investing in it, other industry observers of the situation always relayed two sentiments to us.
The first was shock, because EVP has a reputation for conducting solid due diligence on its investments. The second was best summed up by one senior investor who said: "It's hard to see Misha surviving in VC after something like this."
So it is not a great surprise to learn today that Misha Saul, who came to the attention of many in the ecosystem for his outspoken views and provocative posts on social media, has departed EVP.
EVP confirmed Saul's departure to Capital Brief and said it wishes him all the best. The Opportunities Fund he led will remain managed by partners Les Szekely, Howard Leibman, Justin Lipman and Daniel Szekely. The AFR first reported on his departure.
