Heidi Health has carved out a niche in the competitive AI medical documentation market with its doctor-first approach.

Heidi’s AI scribe operates during consultations, automating clinical note-taking and documentation so healthcare workers can focus on patient care. While competitors focus on selling to hospital executives, the Melbourne-based company says it builds tools based on what clinicians actually need.

Heidi secured $US16.6 million ($26 million) in Series A follow-on funding this month, in a round led by Headline, with participation from Local Globe, Anthology and existing investors Blackbird, HESTA, Possible Ventures and Archangel Ventures.

Capital Brief spoke with CEO Thomas Kelly about differentiating in a crowded market, expanding internationally and navigating patient confidentiality concerns.
