Kylie Frazer joins UNSW Founders as its first investor-in-residence
The co-founder of Flying Fox Ventures predicts that venture capital will pivot to deep tech as AI lowers the cost of building software companies.
As artificial intelligence makes it cheaper to build software companies, venture capital could increasingly flow toward deep technology startups, according to prominent early-stage investor Kylie Frazer, who has been appointed as investor-in-residence at UNSW Founders.
In this new role, Frazer will support the university’s deep tech accelerator programs and help deliver its Angel Investor Program. She will split her time between this position and Flying Fox Ventures, the early-stage venture firm she co-founded in 2021.
“As AI tooling makes it easier to grow large SaaS companies cheaply, fewer founders are going to take big venture bucks too soon,” Frazer said.
"We think that means there's going to be a surplus of dollars in venture capital allocations, which will need to find a home, and we are banking that one of the most likely homes for that will be deep tech."
