The two words missing from Robyn Denholm's SXSW keynote: Elon Musk
In a wide-ranging interview at SXSW Sydney covering Australia's innovation sector, Robyn Denholm mentioned almost everything — except for Elon Musk.
Robyn Denholm has to be in the conversation for Australia’s most important tech executive. She's an operating partner of Blackbird Ventures, probably our most significant VC firm, and the chair of the industry peak body, the Technology Council of Australia. She's also chair of the USD780 billion electric automaker Tesla, one of the most important technology firms in the world.
It’s no surprise then, that Denholm was billed as one of the most anticipated speakers on day two of SXSW Sydney — the first time the Austin, Texas-born festival has ventured overseas.
But there was an Elon Musk-sized hole in her hour-long Q&A when the enigmatic Tesla CEO failed to get any mention. There was a notable lack of open questions taken from the audience, though two questions had been gathered prior and were asked. Anyone with further questions could ask them through the Forbes journalists who could be found after the Q&A.
Obviously Denholm doesn't speak on behalf of Musk. But the man is everywhere at the moment, and his failure to get even a mention was striking.
