Unlockd founder Matt Berriman joins Xailient as it eyes fresh funding
Berriman will continue to lead his fight against Google as he steps into an executive chairman role at Xailient.
Tech entrepreneur Matt Berriman has joined AI facial recognition startup Xailient as executive chairman as it targets a USD25 million ($38 million) Series B early next year.
Berriman told Capital Brief he will juggle the new role while continuing to engage in a multi-year legal battle with Google, which effectively shuttered his adtech startup Unlockd in 2018 when the search giant banned its apps from the platform.
Alongside co-founder and CEO Lars Oleson, Berriman will lead Sony-backed Xailient, which has dual headquarters in Sydney and Denver, USA. Half of its 20 person team is based in Australia.
“I was approached by one of the major investors in Xailient on the premise of wanting to scale internationally,” he told Capital Brief.
