The news: Booking and event management platform Attekus has secured $5 million in its first external capital raise, led by Five V Venture Capital with participation from QIC Ventures.

The numbers: Founded in 2017, Attekus services close to 20% of local councils across Australia and New Zealand, providing booking and event management software, including its flagship product Bookable.

The context: Brisbane-based Attekus said the new funding will be used to scale the business across new markets, expand its product offering, and deepen customer relationships by introducing new features requested by clients.

Attekus said it has identified "significant growth potential" in the UK local government sector and in Australia and New Zealand education, as well as state and federal government agencies.

The company’s Bookable product automates and streamlines booking processes for councils and the broader community, with features like automated pricing, invoicing, waitlist management, and integration with existing council systems.

What they said: "Attekus has become a trusted partner to local governments, providing an essential platform that meets the complex needs of councils for managing bookings and events," said Chris Gillings, who led the deal for Five V Venture Capital, the B2B software fund within Sydney investment firm Five V Capital.

"The Bookable platform is loved by its customers — evidenced by the fact that Attekus has yet to lose a customer," he said.

CEO Peter Suchting, who joined Attekus last year, said: "The Attekus team is excited to bring Five V and QIC on board as our first institutional investors.

"Their combined experience in helping businesses scale across venture capital, growth and private equity is a huge value add for us as we scale, and their networks have already opened new business opportunities for us."
