Four Australian AI startups selected for AWS program
The news: Amazon Web Services (AWS) has selected four Australian startups for its Global Generative AI Accelerator program — Contact Harald, Marqo, Relevance AI, and Splash Music.
The numbers: The startups will join 76 other companies worldwide in the 10-week program designed to accelerate AI innovation.
The selected startups will receive up to $1.5 million each in AWS credits. This is part of AWS's $350 million commitment to accelerate the creation of AI applications globally.
In Australia, 546 AI and machine learning companies have raised over $770 million in investments to date in 2024, according to PitchBook Data.
The context: Participants will gain access to AWS compute, storage, and database technologies, as well as energy-efficient AI chips.
The program aims to support the growing generative AI sector, with Asia Pacific-based generative AI companies raising over $3.8 billion in 2024 which is more than the previous three years combined.
What they said: Head of startups at AWS Australia and New Zealand, John Kearney, said: "Next month, Contact Harald, Marqo, Relevance.ai, and Splash Music will spend 10 weeks with nearly 80 other leading generative AI startups from around the world to participate in business and technical mentorship, networking opportunities with experts, advance its go-to-market strategies, with the objective to help turbocharge their growth and shape future product and strategy".
