The news: AI-powered lawyer platform Legora has secured USD550 million ($772 million) in a Series D funding round, valuing the company at USD5.55 billion. The raise includes backing from Airtree Ventures to support its presence across the United States, the companies said.

The context: The funding round was led by Accel alongside existing global investors including Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, Iconiq, Redpoint Ventures and Y Combinator.

Legora said it will use the funding to accelerate growth in the US, where it has recently opened offices in Houston and Chicago, alongside existing hubs in New York and Denver. The company expects to have around 300 employees in the US by the end of 2026.

Over the past year, Legora has expanded to more than 400 employees across Stockholm, London, New York, Denver, Sydney, and Bengaluru. Its platform supports lawyers with research, review, and drafting across complex legal matters and is used by global law firms including Bird & Bird, Cleary Gottlieb, White & Case, Linklaters, Deloitte, Dentons, and Goodwin.

What they said: “Over the past year, the pace of adoption in the US has exceeded our expectations, as leading firms and in-house teams move decisively from experimentation to embedding AI across their organisations,” Legora CEO Max Junestrand said.

“This funding enables us to accelerate our US growth — investing in talent and infrastructure, strengthening our presence in key markets, and ensuring we can support customers on the ground as they integrate AI into their core workflows,” he added.
