The news: Sydney startup Hatch has closed an oversubscribed $7 million seed round to scale its AI-powered jobs marketplace nationwide.

The numbers: Hatch said it has grown 20% month-on-month for the past two years and had over 150,000 candidates and 120 companies use its marketplace, including Airtasker, Domain, Hello Fresh, Hnry, News Corp, Nine, Qantas, Uber and Woolworths.

The context: Founded by The Iconic co-founder Adam Jacobs and Zip co-founder Chaz Heitner, Hatch aims to focus on Gen Z, rival traditional jobs boards and take market share from incumbents like Seek and Linkedin.

The funding round was led by early stage investor Rampersand, with participation from Alberts Impact Ventures, Investible, Aura Ventures and Jelix Ventures.

What they said: Jacobs said: "There's this idea that AI is here to take jobs away from the next generation, but in fact it's here to help people discover them".

"We're delivering an experience where AI is helping people from all backgrounds find work that's the best fit for them, but one that always keeps the humans in the centre and in control."
