A Federal Court sexual harassment case against the CEO of one of Australia’s best-funded startups has been privately resolved, without a finding, leaving more questions than answers about the judgement of those leading one of the country’s most closely watched tech companies.
The lawsuit against Dovetail co-founder and chief executive Benjamin Humphrey exposed serious governance questions that its private resolution does not answer.
Bethany Lo Russo, Dovetail’s former legal counsel and the applicant in the case, was required to discontinue the Federal Court proceedings after the matter was resolved outside court.
Following the discontinuance, Humphrey published a personal blog post titled ‘About that case’, maintaining his innocence and expressing disappointment that he would not have the opportunity to present his defence in court.
