In-house lawyer Bethany Lo Russo's lawsuit against Dovetail and CEO Benjamin Humphrey has thrown a spotlight on how sexual harassment and discrimination cases move through the courts. It is also providing an early test for new cost protections for claimants introduced last year.
Capital Brief has been reporting extensively on the lawsuit over the past two weeks, from details of Humphrey’s alleged “pernicious and relentless pursuit” of Lo Russo (which he vehemently denies), to investor reactions, governance concerns, and the broader debate over employee protections in Australia’s tech sector.
Humphrey took to LinkedIn late last week to not only publicly respond to the allegations he’s facing but also question media access to details of the case before he has filed a defence.
"For some reason in Australia, the media can access Court documents that contain explosive and highly damaging allegations before you have a chance to file a defence," he wrote, in a post that divided legal experts.
