Adir Shiffman v Sleeping Duck: The story so far

Melbourne-based investor Adir Shiffman has said his dispute with Sleeping Duck is beyond 'his wildest nightmares.' Here's what we know three weeks into the trial.

In late 2021, Melbourne angel investor Adir Shiffman was shopping around for lawyers - something that by his own admission he did with some frequency.

“Everyday I’m not suing someone I’m agitated! Where’s my litigator?” one WhatsApp message from the period tabled in court reads.

Shiffman was in the earliest stages of preparing to sue the founders of a company he had invested in, Sleeping Duck, alleging he had been frozen out from being an active investor in the company and prevented from realising his full shareholding in the business.

Shiffman originally acquired a 10% stake for $100,000 with an option to acquire another 10% of the company. He is seeking orders to restore his 20% shareholding in Sleeping Duck, or damages.
