Australia's top VCs aren't just investing in AI — they're using it for (almost) everything
VCs are enthusiastically embracing AI for almost all of their tasks. Except the most important one.
Australian VC firms aren't just investing in AI, they are increasingly integrating it into their day-to-day operations, transforming everything from routine tasks to what they look for in their teams.
But, despite growing adoption, there is broad agreement that human judgement remains essential for final investment decisions.
"We leverage AI across every aspect of our firm, including investment, operations, marketing, and fundraising," said Jackie Vullinghs, a partner at Airtree Ventures. "However, it's critical to emphasise that while AI amplifies our capabilities, it does not replace human decision-making and we're not using AI to replace any aspect of the investment funnel."
At Rampersand, partner Andrew Poesaste similarly emphasised that while they use AI extensively for workflow automation, opportunity capturing, and market mapping, certain elements remain distinctly human. "What we don't do is outsource judgement, taste or relationships," Poesaste said. "At the pre-seed and seed stage so much is about human judgement and relationships that we don't see them being outsourced to the machines, at least not in the near term."
