Build Club raises $1.75m in pre-seed led by Blackbird, Airtree

The news: Build Club, an AI e-learning platform focused on democratising access to AI education through real-world projects, has raised $1.75 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round led by Airtree and Blackbird.

The numbers: Archangel Ventures, Co Ventures, and Treble VC also participated in the $1.75 million pre-seed round.

While automation is set to displace 85 million jobs globally by 2025, it is set to create 97 million new roles in AI-related fields such as data science and engineering. Build Club's e-learning platforms for AI and has grown to become APAC's largest AI community with over 4,500 members.

The context: Build Club offers project-based learning through its "bounty" system, which involves real-life business problems submitted by startups and businesses.

The platform is partnered with leading AI companies such as NVIDIA, Cohere, Leonardo.AI, and Groq.

What they said: "The demand for AI solutions is outpacing the speed at which employees have been able to reskill, making it mission critical for companies to find a practical solution to stay competitive," founder and CEO of Build Club Annie Liao said.

"Through running Build Club, we're giving domain experts, not just coders, the tools to build AI solutions today."

Airtree partner Elicia McDonald said: “It’s adapt or die when it comes to AI adoption, and this is particularly true for SMEs, who are currently underserved by existing platforms and desperate for a solution that enables them to keep pace with the transformation their industries are undergoing".
