Culture Amp co-founder Rod Hamilton joins Rampersand
The news: Rod Hamilton, co-founder and former chief product officer of Culture Amp, has joined Rampersand as a venture partner.
The numbers: Rampersand has invested more than $100 million in 35 companies over the past decade, with its portfolio companies increasing in value by 800% on average and raising more than $500 million from investors.
This is Rampersand's third significant hire in less than four months, following the recruitment of Andrew Poesaste from the UK and the promotion of Taryn Pieterse.
The context: This appointment marks Hamilton's return to the startup ecosystem two years after stepping down from Culture Amp.
In his new role, Hamilton will work with founders in Rampersand's portfolio to accelerate their global ambitions. He will also launch and lead Rampersand's new product counsel, which aims to bring together Australia's top minds in product development to assist founders in building successful products.
Rampersand is betting that this enhanced leadership team will increase the number of "unicorns" in its portfolio, suggesting a strong focus on high-growth, high-potential startups.
Rampersand's portfolio includes notable startups founded by entrepreneurs such as Sam Kroonenburg, Adam Jacobs, and Zac Duff.
What they said: "Having been on the journey myself, I know the difference that access to mentors with deep skills and experience can have when you're in the early stages of building the company and breaking new ground," Hamilton said.
"I hope to bring some of this knowledge and expertise to Rampersand's founders and startups as part of our new product community, to help them build great products and teams."
