The news: Australian waste-to-energy startup ARC Ento Tech has secured $5 million in funding led by MCCI Corporation to establish three processing plants across Sydney and expand its waste transformation technology globally.

The numbers: The latest funding brings ARC Ento Tech's total capital raised to $6.25 million since its founding in March 2020.

The company aims to address an industry handling 2.12 billion tonnes of annual waste globally, valued at $2.6 trillion. In Australia alone, the waste industry processes 75.8 million tonnes annually, equivalent to nearly three tonnes per person.

The context: ARC Ento Tech has developed the patent-pending ARC Process technology, which transforms waste into sustainable products including food, fuel and industrial materials. The company has already secured licensing agreements with Entoq for North American operations and Ento Tech Africa for African expansion, starting in Kenya.

What they said: "This funding is a signal of confidence in the commercial viability of solutions within Australia's renewable energy industries and a huge step forward for ARC Ento Tech and the ARC Process," managing director of ARC Ento Tech Ramon Atayde said.

"We're proving that waste doesn't have to be a problem — it can be a solution."
