There are plenty of theories about the best way to improve funding for women-led startups in Australia, but Heatseeker co-founder Kate O'Keeffe has a clear vision for what she can do about it.
"All I can do is make sure my startup makes a life-changing amount of money for everyone who backed us," she says.
O'Keeffe and her co-founder Fiona Triaca are currently raising a pre-seed round for their startup, which uses AI to simplify business idea validation and market research.
The latest Cut Through Venture report released today shows a paltry 4% of total capital raised has gone to female-only founded startups so far in 2024. The stats are much better for pre-seed participation by teams with at least one female founder, reaching a record-equalling 50% for the second consecutive quarter in Q3.
